About me

I am Niloufar Faridani. I have a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering (communication division) from the University of Tehran in Tehran, Iran, and I’m a highly motivated electrical engineer. My research interests span a variety of  technologies, including Biomedical Engineering, Signal Processing, Deep Learning, Image and Video Analysis, and Machine Learning. I am enthusiastic to keep expanding my knowledge and making contributions to the area of Electrical Engineering through my research and career pursuits. Currently, my B.Sc. thesis work focuses on predicting gaze points in motion images using deep learning.

Background

I first became interested in electrical engineering in middle school after seeing a documentary about Nikola Tesla. My father, who also loved electrical engineering, further sparked my passion for the field. I decided to focus on math in high school to prepare for studying electrical engineering at the University of Tehran. While taking courses at university, I became fascinated by communications concepts and signal processing. Over the past two years, I’ve worked on merging deep learning and signal processing, leading to a published paper “Unsupervised Representations Improve Supervised Learning in Speech Emotion Recognition.” My current B.Sc. thesis involves developing a novel model for predicting eye gaze points using deep learning. I look forward to continuing to explore applications of deep learning in electrical engineering and signal processing.
